about

"A Baritone Saxophone player with an ear for the avant garde, Toninato has put together something really beautiful that grabs your attention from the beginning and truly transports its observer to another dimension. Minimalism is the root of it all but Toninato’s music just has a presence about it. Really powerful stuff."

By Donovan Burtan, positivelyunderground, DB, 20 avril 2017

"Strangeness is gratitude" is the title of an album shaped around a quest, a research and my own sonic wandering. Started at the Gesù – Center for creativity, thanks to a residency in this church in Montreal gifted with a unique and generous acoustic, it got expanded at various reverberant spaces. Notably, a building about which nothing should be said, except that its doors remained open all night, and I loved shaking one of its empty floors relentlessly, making concrete walls, glass windows and my barytone sax merge into one holy entity.

"Strangeness is gratitude" is dedicated to the stars along my road and to all of the musicians who shared this adventure. A very big thank you to Jocelyne Bilodeau, Nathalie Courchesnes and the wonder team of the Gesù – Center for creativity, to Mathieu Bélanger, Ana Dall’Ara Majek, Iván Solano, Myriam Boucher, Pierre-Luc Lecours, Maxime Corbeil-Perron, Rober Racine, Pierre-Luc Sénécal, Luc Delorme, Jean-François Blouin. To François-Xavier Féron and Rudolf Weber.

BIG UPS to Kohlenstoff Records Team. You rock.
